Discover our black and gold world

My family works in the marble industry, particularly in the extraction and trade of Portoro
since 1922. I inherited most of my knowledge from my grandfather, who was also the owner of a Portoro quarry on Mount Castellana in La Spezia (Italy), and continued to produce and directly market it worldwide. Following the production process, the processing, and ultimately the installation in some luxury project is what I love about my job.

Our approach

1

Project Analysis

Our experience allows us to assist the client in choosing the best material for their needs, while minimizing waste due to cutting and installation.

2

Site inspection

Every day we go to the quarry to follow every single step of the extraction process, selecting the best blocks for our clients' projects.

3

Material selection

Once we have selected the best blocks, we proceed with cutting them into slabs or different thicknesses, differentiating the qualities of Portoro marble.

Portoro Marble

Portoro marble best quality

Nero Portoro is a sought-after Italian marble with a classical appearance, widely used since Roman times, especially for temples, imperial villas, and decorative objects. This material is characterized by the refined chromatic effect given by the very intense black base, embellished with bright golden veins that give it a sophisticated and luxurious appearance. When a ray of light hits a slab, pleasantly new golden veins are discovered, giving the marble a different appearance every time.
The most precious blocks of Nero Portoro
are those that have a deep and uniform black background, constant, without white streaks, and in which the golden veins are uninterrupted and well-distributed over the entire surface. This marble is now well known and its demand has not undergone fluctuations, remaining constant over the years. We can therefore define it as a “timeless” material.

Its preciousness is also due to its limited availability, as it is only found in the Portovenere area in Liguria. Portoro marble, precisely because of its aesthetic qualities and being a precious and elegant marble, is mainly used for wall and floor coverings in luxury homes, hotels, and villas, with particular attention to bathrooms or reception rooms.
